Any Optometrists ?.....

About 4yrs ago I bought 3 pair of eye glasses that had no nose peices. I am now unable to find such glasses now. Are these glasses called something different? Where is a good place to have new lense cut for my surviving 2 frames? I am also wanting some insight about new contact lens, best kind for long daily wear, brands etc. I am an experienced contact wearer just need some product suggestions. Thanks in advance.

lenscrafters will get the job done fast but pricey.

the frames without nose pieces are tough to find in metal...plastic frames usually dont have nose pieces.

i know Walmart will cut lenses into your own frame and charge a $20 fee to use your own lenses and lens prices are quite reasonable. Costco is of course the cheapest place for lenses but i am not sure if they do lenses into your own frame.

as far as contact lenses go....i've had most success with either Acuvue Oasys and Avaira lenses....least drying of the soft lenses and a high successful fit rate.
both lenses are good and are for 2 week replacement. they both come in different sizes so that is what i usually use as my major determinant.
get some trials and see for yourself.
oh....and oasys lenses are approved for overnight wear (not that i'd ever recommend it) and Avaira is not approved for overnight wear.

use optifree replenish solution.....keeps the lenses fresh longer.

if you want inexpensive glasses through the internet....try this site...he's a classmate of mine from optometry school...

Thanks J, I really like the metal frames without the nose peices. Kinda oldschool simple. Why is it the good stuff gets discontinued?

the problem with the frames without nose pieces is the adjustments....if the lenses are cut poorly or measured incorrectly the nose pieces can be raised or lowered....no nose pads requires expert work/measurements....and you know how tough it is to find quality american workmanship these days
